||||||||
|
In about 500 churches throughout India, one musical instrument manufacturer’s equipments are used for Sunday prayers. John George is this enabler of music and his firm is ‘Reginald Music Industries’, founded in Chennai in 1981. Even
as a youth he was prepared to buy damaged electronic instruments and use
available electronic spare parts to rectify them. An
order from Holy Trinity CSI Church, Chennai for an organ costing Rs.12000
set him thinking on the commercial possibilities of manufacturing musical
instruments. With
the emphasis given to customer satisfaction, his equipments were able to
win many orders. In addition
to the work through Reginalds, he was able to accomplish other milestones
as an employee of Akashavani. George,
who joined AIR as Technical Assistant and retired as Class 1 Engineer in
1985, was instrumental in the installation of 120 amplified speakers for
26 FM stations. His other
noteworthy achievements include channel music speakers for export quality
Railway coaches, Public Address system for Institute of Mentally
Handicapped, Hyderabad etc. His
personally gratifying moment came when Yesudas sang at a wedding reception
in Chennai using the PA system of Reginald alone.
