What
if he hadn’t studied in an English medium school?
Vidhu P.Nair, a young man with rural background has become
the 6th rank holder in All India Civil Services Examination. “Earlier
I used to feel that I.A.S. was beyond my capabilities.
But while I was a student of Veterinary College, Mannuthi, an
Assistant Professor of the college got selected for Civil Services. This prompted me to give it a try,” says this eldest son of
Peethambaran, retired Pharmacist and Chandramathi Amma, head nurse, 'Sreevihar',
Poothakkuzhi, Pambadi, Kottayam. Vidhu
studied in the Malayalam medium Government High School, Pambadi.
Says his father, “I was against the notion that a child could
become something only if he wore coat and tie and mouthed English.
Vidhu’s achievement proves that I wasn’t wrong in my
assessment”. Hard
work and steely resolve were more useful to Vidhu in his quest for
excellence.
