A
6th standard dropout beedi worker pursuing his studies at night
and obtaining M.Phil degree and Government job is itself a worthy
achievement. And if he takes
the initiative to arrange free night classes for similar students and help
25 of them obtain job in Government sector, then that is all the more
inspiring. K.V.Padmanabhan,
alias Pappan, Krishnalayam, Keezhathoor, Vengod, Thalasseri, Kannur,
drew inspiration from the literary activities of Kerala Sastra Sahityha
Parishad. The people too
cooperate with him in his effort to pass of his knowledge to other
seekers. Students of
Pappan’s classes who include beedi workers , undergo training for PSC
exams and physical fitness. They
are made to repeatedly attempt at solving objective type model questions. His
students have joined Government Departments like Fire Force, Forest,
Police, Rural Development and Social Welfare.
Besides 10 of them have been short listed for posts like Mazdoor in
KSEB, peon in District Bank, Guard in Excise Department and Police
Constable in KAP Battalion etc. At
present there are 34 participants including 15 girls attending classes
conducted at the Reading Room of Yuvajana Sangham, Keezhathoor.
The classes are held from 7 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.
Besides Pappan his brothers Pramod and Ganesh and a few others
engage the classes. A class in progress
