THE MALAYALI BEHIND NASA-MISSION

Vidyasagar,  Nediyedath House, Manathala, Chavakkadu, Thrissur.
 

Soon after NASA launched ‘NeuroLab’ abroad its Space Shuttle ‘Columbia’, a telephone message reached Sankaran, Nediyedath House, Manathala, Chavakkadu, Thrissur.

The call was from his son Vidyasagar who had made a major contribution to the design and development of the 'NeuroLab'.

NASA had launched the lab to study the effect of gravity-less space on human body and nervous system.

Vidyasagar had earlier worked for 10 years at VSSC, Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram.

Vidyasagar did his schooling at Government High School, Chavakkad.  Later he studied at Sree Krishna College, Guruvayoor and Government Engineering College, Thrissur.

He later obtained Masters Degree from the Space Institute of Tennessee University before joining NASA.

His wife Dr. Jilly works as pediatrician at McGregor Medical Association, Houston.  3-year-old Resmi is their only child.
