10-year-old
Varun.M of Kadachira, Kannur is a recipient of National-level
exceptional achievement award 2000.
Varun,
who is a 5th standard student of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kannur,
has demonstrated his extraordinary memory before audiences including the
Centre for Science in Society (C-SiS) of CUSAT a number of times.
He
has unusual eye for detail and events and remembers the calendar details
for 200 years, according to Dr.K.G.Nair, director, C-SiS.
Varun
can recollect a lot of information like all the 536 districts in the
country, 189 republics in the world, their capitals, currency and
language, identification of emblems and a host of other details which even
adults will find hard to recollect.
His
father M.Vijayan, an LP School teacher, said that the special talents of
the child were noticed from an early age.
The child was left to himself to nurture his abilities according to
his likes.
