||||||||
|
When Rekha P.Menon was a student of Pre-Degree at Sree Krishna College, Guruvayoor, her friends would hum Hindi film songs wile she would surreptitiously write Hindi poems in her diary. For she was in love with te language and its literature right from the moment she started learning Hindi. Since
she had no avenues to publish these poems, they hibernated in her
notebooks and diaries. Their
only readers were her close friends. That was till she came across the magazine ‘Hindi Viswa
Samskuthi’. Soon her poems
started appearing in the magazine. In
this quest for the Muse, two awards came her way.
Her first collection of poems, ‘Jabaath’, won the Hindi Sahitya
Academy award. Her second
collection, ‘Lonely road and strange wayfarers’ won an award
instituted by Dr. N.Chandrasekharan Nair Samithi. She
is now translating Poonthanam’s ‘Jnanappana’ into Hindi. Rekha’s
father is Prof.M.K.Menon, retired Principal of Sree Krishna College,
Guruvayoor and her mother is Ammu Menon, Purayath, Chittoor. Rekha
is now working in the Hindi teaching scheme of the Central Government.
