38-year-old Sajini of Thekkekkara, Kolathur, Perinthalmanna,
Malappuram has the distinction of training
10000 plus women and children in Kalaripayattu, the martial art of
Kerala. She has been felicitated by the
Perinthalmanna
Muncipal authorities for the empowerment of women brought about by her
through
instructing about 3000 women and children through her coaching.
She had
been in the news for her blindfold world record-setting performance. In this feat, vegetables were placed on the
bodies of 50 volunteers and she cut them all blindfolded within 5
minutes 20 seconds.
Sajini
started practicing Kalaripayattu from the age of 5.
There are three styles of this art, namely
Southern, Middle Kerala and Northern Kalaripayattu styles.
She has been an adept in all the 3 and was
the State champion in all the 3 styles for 8 consecutive years.
Her husband is Thekkuthody Bhaskaran and son, Ajay.
