Shaji recently drove his autorickshaw 272 km for stranded passengers on the hartal day. In addition, he gave a packet of bun and a bottle of water to 26 passengers, all expenditure being met from his pocket. He spent around rupees 1400 in this manner for passengers from Muvattupuzha General Hospital to their homes.
On the hartal day, 6 patients had been discharged from the hospital after eye surgery. Shaji had transported them all to their homes.
Shaji, whose livelihood is plying the autorickshaw, had not accepted any donation from anyone for his good Samaritan work.
During all hartals, Shaji is there in front of the General Hospital to provide timely help with his autorickshaw.
