By incorporating the gist of Braille script into the keyboard, Nalin Sathyan, a  final year student of B.Sc. Computer Science from Kasaragod, has developed an open source software that can be used to type in any language in the world using just 6 keys.  His innovation has been acknowledged by Google by awarding him Rs. 6.76 lakhs at the recent Google Summer of Code (G-SOC).

Nalin is the son of K.Sathyaseelan and Sarada of Kasaragod.  Sathyaseelan is a teacher at the Govt.Blind School, Kasaragod and is fully blind.  It was with the inputs from his father that Nalin has developed the software.

It is by the 63 combinations of 6 dots that the letters of all the languages are made to confirm to the 6 keys.

In 2013, his project for giving audio-support to optically-challenged persons to handle programs like Tex type, tex maths had been similarly honoured at the G-SOC.
