It is often those without the means that develop the urge to share their meager resources with the needy.  Earlier, their efforts often went like irrigation in a patch of desert.  But with technology like Facebook, the tiny group with keen ideal can attract worldwide supporters for their cause, as Vinod Bhaskar, conductor of KSRTC in the Changanassery – Alappuzha route has done.

Vinod does not even have a house of his own.  But he had heard and experienced the noble ideal of his father in marrying his mother, who was a polio-stricken cripple.  That large-heartedness was the inspiration for him.  In 2011, he formed a Facebook group to called ‘V Help’.  This group went about helping the needy in terms of cash, medicine and implements.

As the group went about its activities, it became aware of the demand for blood donation.  Seeing the need and response, a new group ‘Blood Donors Kerala’ was formed.  It was not long before the group was asked to be on its toes.  Daily about 70 requests reach the group.  Vinod says that it is the strength of the group that they are able to cater to the whole demand.

There are 60 active members in the group.  Worldwide support-base sustain the group and it is able to serve throughout Kerala.

On Sundays he leaves his rented house with home-cooked food to serve the needy in the streets.  Vinod uses all his spare time for such humanitarian activities.  His wife Usha is his stable support at home.
