ANU: DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL PETROLEUM GAS CONVERTER | ||||||
|
After college hours Anu works in a local electrical shop till night to support his family and studies. But his dreams and efforts are lighting a path that is taking him to places. Recently his brainchild - digital petroleum converter - was adjudged the best project at the 10th National Convention of the Indian Society for Technical Education, held in Andhra Pradesh. His entry was selected from among 180 projects by students of engineering colleges and polytechnics. Anu who lost his father at a young age, moved with his mother to his aunt’s place. Adversity did not snuff out his dreams and he was keen to study electronics. While attending a diploma course in a polytechnic he was recruited by PepsiCo. There he got acquainted with modern equipment and technology. It urged him to learn more and he soon left the job to join an electronics course in the government-run Maharaja’s Technical Institute, Thrissur. The digital petroleum converter developed by him - by burning considerable amount of midnight oil - changes petrol, diesel or kerosene to gas in a cost-effective manner. It checks backfiring and uses embedded programming, radio frequency communication and fire safety sensors. “I would have written the entrance examination and joined an engineering college if someone had given me the right advice when I was in school,” he says. Teachers at the Institute are all praise for him. “His determination is phenomenal and humility exemplary. I am sure he will go places,” says A.K.Chandrakantha, head of the Department of Electronics of the college.
