The temple of Rajarajeswari at Kandamangalam, Chertalai has a long tradition of religious harmony.  Since sometime the temple has been looking after the deaf and dumb muslim lady Jameela.  Besides, the temple involves itself in all functions of the St.Mary’s Ferona Church at Thanki.  So when Hamsa and Seethi of Thekkeveli, Vettakkal requested that the ‘nikah’ of their daughter Sabitha be conducted in the temple premises as they do not have sufficient space in their house for arranging it, the temple authorities did not hesitate to agree.

And so the auditorium adjacent to the temple became the venue for the nikah of Sabitha and Sherif.  And the function was solemnized by Abdul Rasheed Naeemi, the Ustad of the Kunhithai Jamaat Mosque.  The newly weds were given prasadam by the temple just after the nikah and they signed in the marriage register of the temple.
