When weary travelers heave a sigh of relief after drinking water from this public well, they may not remember Kunhiraman of Elankot, Panoor, Kannur, who built it at his own cost.
‘Kutineer Mestiri’ as he is known in the area, Kunhiraman has been a mason building wells since the age of 18. In the water-scare area of Palakkoolil, he had built the well in the land donated by a neighbour. In addition to the well, a pump house too has been constructed and electric pump installed. According to him, the total cost of construction came to Rs.40000.
