It was an open-ended research by Gopalakrishnan Nair, a post-graduate in Chemistry, at his home, that paved the way for the discovery of a successful hair growth oil.  After a few drops of the concoction fell on the wrist, he noted that the hair growth in the area had been more vigorous.

That was the moment he knew the formula for Anoop Hair Oil, an ayurvedic product that sells 60000 bottles abroad without the backup of any advertisement.  However, he was reluctant to let the world know, for he doubted if anyone would believe.  So for the next 10 years, its efficacy was tested at home on his own kith and kin.  It was when the media flashed his results at the beginning of 1989 that the product received received almost hysteric response.

Hearing the news, one of the largest companies came forward to market the project.  Gopalakrishnan’s suggestion to them was to wait for 1 year.  He did so to strengthen the credibility of the product during this time.  Since 1990, the corporate giant is marketing the home-made product in India and abroad.

The product requires no advertisement as he is not able to meet the demand due to paucity of herbs.  And the discoverer is not willing to compromise quality for achieving additional production.

The hand-made process is now fully automated at his Arshik Herbal Remedies India factory at Mulakara near Vilappilsala, Thiruvananthapuram.  Recently , the company has brought out a dandruff cream and a fresh odorant.

Gopalakrishnan Nair’s research for an undisclosed goal – of which the herbal oil was a byproduct – continues unabated.

He is the State President of Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturer’s Association and is among the leaders of the Public Relations Association.
