JAYAMOHAN AND MANU JOSEPH: BRINGING OUT THE BILINGUAL DICTIONARY OF COMPUTER TERMS | |||||||
|
As knowledge expands exponentially, the attempt to categorize it follows suit. The teacher-student duo of Jayamohan M and Manu Joseph have done just that. After 3 years of toil, they have brought out the first-ever bilingual dictionary of computer and IT-related terms. The dictionary contains 2500 terms of computer and IT descriptions. “We have brought it out as a reference material,” says Madhu, who did graduation under Jayamohan at Kannur and is presently doing his post graduation in Linguistics at Kerala University. “Though we have an English computer dictionary, we felt that it was incomplete. So we decided to bring out a more comprehensive and well-researched one,” says Jayamohan, a faculty with IHRD, Kozhikode and a research scholar on Image Processing at Kerala University. In their creation, the authors have not given the meanings of the terms but explained their concept in both English and Malayalam. And the duo has still higher aims, including the project to bring out an encyclopaedia of compute science.
