After 6 years of marriage, when 24-year-old Suharabi came back to her parents’ house as a divorcee, she had nothing to fall back upon, except perhaps a burning desire to stand on her own legs.  And so, without her parents’ knowledge, she applied for a job as nursery teachers’ trainer at Ernakulam.  She was one of those selected and though the parents were at first apprehensive, they gave the green signal for her foray.

In a short time she was elevated to the position of nursery teacher training superintendent – a job that authorised her to travel all over Malabar to set up nurseries.  It was during these travels that she met her Koyadeen Master, whom she married subsequently.

After marriage she decided to put an end to the traveling routine.  With the support of her husband, she started an automatic packaging, covering and printing unit.  Although the capital wasn’t sufficient initially, she could repay the loan in 3 years.  And the unit is running successfully in its 24th year.

It was an exhibition at Thrissur that changed the course of Suharabi’s life.  Seeing the American Diamonds or artificial gems, she thought about the possibility of manufacturing them.  Silicon mined from many countries including India is processed in the West as rough gem and imported to India to make artifical diamonds.

She started the gem business with 10 workers from Tamil Nadu.  In 4 years, her ‘Malabar Gem Palace’ has grown to employ more than 100 persons.  Although she has come up from nothing to this position, she hasn’t forgotten her paths.  She has registered an organization, ‘All Kerala Ladies Education and Service Society’, which does the rehabilitation of destitute women and children.

As a successful women entrepreneur, her advice to women is just this: nothing is impossible.
