GAYATRI KUMAR: CHAMPION IN ENGLISH SPELLING CONTEST IN UK | |||||||

Be it writing in English or even spelling it properly, Indians are not far behind the natives of the British Isles. Gayatri Kumar, a Malayali has shown it once again with her victory in spelling contest conducted by the BBC. She became champion in the contest ‘Hard Spell’, that witnessed the participation of more than one lakh students from schools in Britain. She could reel off the spellings of many difficult words. The runner up too was an Indian – Nisha Abraham Thomas. 5 shortlisted winners from the preliminary round contested in the final round. Gayatri is the daughter of Dr.S.K.G.Panikker and Dr.Priya Nair of ‘Prem Priya’, Mettukkada, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram. She migrated to England with her parents at the age of 5.
