|
Started in 1999 with a single computer and a single-minded dedication by Benny Kuriakose of Neeleswaram, Sifa Imaging Private Limited, Bangalore has scaled great heights since then and is now a Rs.14-crore turnover company with 225 employees. Graduate in Economics from Nehru Arts and Science College, Kanhangad, Benny spent some time in North India and Middle East before joining as a junior sales representative at M/s John Wyle, Bangalore, to sell books. In 5 years, the hardworking youngster rose to the position of Regional Manager of the company. It was then that many well wishers advised to him to start a venture on his own. To leverage the experience of Benny in the field of pre-press, his friends decided to start a business. Though he was involved in the initial stages only as a consultant, he had to jump into the fray when others withdrew from the idea. By pawning his land and house at Neeleswaram and by borrowing from the market, Benny started the venture in 1999. When it became evident that Sifa could only undertake work worth Rs.19600 in the first year, the other partners except the technical expert Himanant left the venture. Yet with Benny’s marketing ability and Himanant’s technical effort, the company was able to do business worth Rs.4 crores by 2002 and increase its employee base to 80. Sifa was able to become a service provider and ultimately a trusted associate of European and American publishers by their flawless work in copy editing, paging, indexing, graphic design, multimedia solution. Among the clients of the company include Oxford, John Wyle & Sons (USA) and a host of other publishers in academic, technological and medical fields. Even into the BPO and digi-page fields Sifa is making its forays. His wife is Marian and children Merlin and Max.
