On hearing that Savitha from Kasargod, another competitor in Ottamthullal at the State School Youth Festival did not have sufficient money to procure costumes, V.S.Srinath from Kottayam immediately offered his costumes and money to her and withdrew from the contest.

“I will have other opportunities.  Since that elder sister is in 10th standard, she will get grace marks if she wins in the competition,” was his argument.

Son of Raveendranath and Sudhakumari of Vadakketh, Chirakkadavu, Kottayam, he reveals some unique talents besides displaying a compassionate heart.  A budding magician, this 9th standard student had driven a jeep blindfolded for 10 km at Ponkunnam during last Gandhi Jayanthi Day.  For the last 9 years, he is the champion at the Kanjirappally Sub District Youth Festival. He has acted in about 250 stages with his father in professional dramas.  Since the age of 10, he has been a speaker at many venues.

He is a little guru for youngsters in the field of arts.  His disciple S.Jayapriya had won the 1st prize in mono act at the State Youth Festival while another disciple Sree Lakshmi, who became a champion in Kanjirappally Sub District Youth Festival learned Mono Act, Katha Prasangam and Elocution from him.

Sreenath, whose ideal is Swami Vivekananda, does not charge anything for public performance of magic or for his speeches.  He rather accepts books.

To the question what he wanted to become in life, his answer is this: “whatever be the field activity, I wish to work for the welfare of the society.”
