Taller than the farmer who cultivates them, the 6-feet long snake gourds in Krishnan's farm signify the success of his vegetable cultivation. He is a leading supplier of seeds to the Vegetable and Fruit Promotion Council of Kerala since the last 10 years and is thus a benefactor to scores of vegetable farmers throughout the State.

Krishnan came to adopt vegetables 15 years ago after he burned his fingers in paddy cultivation. After high yields were obtained from cultivation with good variety of seeds, he stuck to vegetable cultivation, which he uses mainly for seed production.

Last year his farm at Arattukulam, Nenmeni, Palakkad was able to supply 200 kg of seeds cultivated without even a trace of chemicals. According to him, if the cultivation is done properly, 1 acre can yield Rs.50000 from vegetable farming.

Krishnan, who spends his day from 8am to 6pm in the farm, is assisted in his passion by his wife Ammukkutti and son.
