She was the first person from the adivasi hamlets of Attappady to qualify as an MBBS doctor. And the story of her effort is being made into a documentary now.
As a young girl, Kali had the desire to study after seeing her neighbours go to school. And she accompanied them to school in her rags. From then onwards it was a saga of many struggles and at the end of them all, Kali transformed herself into Dr.Kamalakshi after obtaining her graduation from Medical College, Thrissur and post graduation from Medical College, Kozhikode.
She is at present working in the ophthalmology department of District Hospital, Kollam.
