S.D.Shibulal - one of the Directors of Infosys: it is this address that fetches Alappuzha-born Shibulal a pride of place among IT denizens. Whenever VVIPs like the President of Singapore or Bill Gates of Microsoft visit Bangalore, Infosys is a part of their itinerary. And at such times, one can always find Shibulal behind Infosys Chairman N.R.Narayana Moorthy.
Son of C.K.Damodaran and A.K.Sarojini of Ezhukulangara, Shibulal obtained his Masters Degree in Mathematics from Kerala University, followed by an M.S in computer science from Boston University, USA. When Infosys was born in 1981, Shibulal too dreamt that one day it would turn out to be a corporate giant, for the other 6 partners were also committed strivers like him.
Today when the Infosys campus is pointed out as a symbol of India’s development and achievement in IT sector, Shibulal remembers the initial days of the company. With offices in 15 countries and a human capital of more than 10000, Infosys has grown into a global IT service provider. This Malayali too had a major role in developing the Infosys campus of international standard in Electronic City.
Head of the Customer Delivery in the company, he had earlier been Senior Resource Manager of Sun Microsystems. For a long time he was in USA, looking after the projects there.
Although many in Alappuzha do not know him, when he mentions in a soft voice that he belongs to Ezhukulangara, it is a statement of pride for Kerala.
