ANSAR: COLLECTION OF BELLS FROM 45 COUNTRIES | |||||||
|
In his room
the bells sit in perfect silence. But if the wind blows, then one can hear
a symphony of tolls from 45 countries.
Ansar, 'Palm Grove', Kollam has been collecting bells from different places since the last 5 years. It was the instant liking he felt for a ritualistic bell that spurred on his collector's enthusiasm. As friends from different parts of the world contribute to his collection, the collection has now grown to more than 250. Some of the beauties from his collection include the African bamboo bell that tolls with the sound of a rowing boat, the Nigerian bell made of animal bone, the Chinese bell in the shape of a Buddha-head etc. But the pride of place goes to the Australian bell that produces a rainbow of colours in sunlight. In addition to collecting the bells, he tries to learn about its origin and history. His son Saveer too help in the collection process.
