In the networked cyber world, connectivity is more significant than what is in the hard disk. Similarly, in the service sector, one's networking capability with other service providers is becoming more important than what talent one has.

An exemplar of this dictum is Saji, alias Courier Saji, whose main job is 'props' for advertising agencies. These props include location for shooting to dress for modelling. In addition to this he arranges for reservation of train tickets, taxis, wedding related needs, books not easily available etc.

Whatever one asks, Saji never says 'no'. With a smile he would say, 'let me see', and it will usually be done – in the quickest time too.

Once a journalist asked him for a few copies of Illustrated Weekly of 1984. Within 2 days, it was ready. Another person wanted parts of a printing press, 100 years old. That too could be arranged by him in the stipulated time.

Be it old curios, or 80 year old models for ad films, or even arranging accomodation at Mookambika, Saji manages to deliver the service. Saji, who had studied Pre-Degree and X-Ray technician's course, soon stated a courier service in the Ernakulam-Kottayam secor in 1985. Very soon he became a trusted man of advertising firms. Launching and expanding his service activities from this connection, he has not looked back since.

Not many Keralites could have made money from 'Konjatta' (the web at the base of coconut leaves) the way he designed a reusable and organic photo frame from the substance for the Kerala Pavilion at the Berlin Tourism Festival. That creative output fetched him Rs.7000, perhaps proving also that nothing is really a waste.

Saji, whose chief investment is his travel, gathers possibilities and talents during such reconnaissance visits. And during his travels he is searching for another rarity: a girl with just SSLC as her qualifications, whom he would like to make his life partner. "In the coming days, a girl with just SSLC is likely to be a exception," he says smilingly.
