When the ability of the physically challenged is tested at the international level, we have the Abolympics.  An in this arena, a young man from Kerala has done India proud by winning the gold medal for poster designing in the 6th Abolympics, held at New Delhi during November 2003.

Sabarinath, a deaf and dumb student of computer studies at NISH, Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram won the first prize edging past participants from 30 countries.  Last year, he had won 2 gold medals in watercolour painting and poster designing in the 1st ever national abolympics.

Sabarinath, who passed SSLC with 2nd rank in 1999, later completed Plus Two before joining NISH.  A self-taught artist, he hopes to make use of his talents after completing his computer studies.

He is the son of Dr.Kusumaraja Chandran and Dr.Ramla of G.N.Sadanam, Thattamala, Kollam.
