|
The effort of the Ernakulam Rural District Committee of Kerala Police Association has resulted in the gift of sight to 12 blind persons. The Association had earlier submitted to the Eye Bank the pledge of its 1000 members and their families to donate their eyes after death. Out of these, 12 eyes could be collected from 5 dead policemen and 1 kin, which in turn helped 12 blind persons to get the gift of sight. The dead policemen are Sebastian of Chengamanad Police Station who died on May 7, 2003, Ullas of Paravoor Police Station who died on January 27, 2004, Ramakrishnan of Puthenvelikkara Police Station who died on January 31, 2004, Mohanan of Njarakkal Police Station who died on March 31, 2004 and Subhash. In addition, the eyes of Antony, father of Shibu, a policeman in Paravoor Station were also gifted under this scheme.
