Burglars will certainly have to do more work to break open the ‘Anti Burglary 3 Lock Door’ designed by K.R.Ramesan, Deputy Superintendent of Police. The gist of his invention is how the lock latches on to three sides: bottom, top and side.
The lock is a result of long R&D and his own experience in tackling burglaries. The ‘Anti Burglary Door’ being exhibited at the Onam Consumer Fair at Thrissur was made with the assistance of a carpenter and a mechanic.
If the modus operandi of burglars is to apply pressure on the top and bottom of the door to break it, then Ramesan’s lock tries to cover this loophole. Ramesan is the son of K.Madhavan, Methikkalathil, Kunnamkari, Alappuzha. He joined Government service as a Sub Inspector at Valancherry and worked in various capacities at different places from Kasargod to Ernakulam.
Being a Government employee, he requires permission to commercially manufacture the product. He is trying to obtain this sanction as well as a patent for his invention. Already there are enquiries from Coimatore about the lock.
