SUSY GEORGE ISAAC: THE WOMAN AT THE HELM OF A MULTI-CRORE PICKLE COMPANY | |||||||
|
Behind the success of Palat Group that is synonymous with pickles, there is the dedication of a woman who wouldn’t compromise on quality. In 20 years, Susy George Isaac, has led the Group from a small-scale organization to a multi-crore industrial group employing 200 persons. Susy, who can guess the taste of a product from its smell, personally guides the workers to mix the correct ratio of ingredients and to heat the product to the optimum extent. Although her pickles have a good market in Gulf, Europe and USA, it is the same product that is exported as well as made available to domestic market. Susy, who learned food preservation at Thrissur and Mysore, is keen to provide all benefits as well as pension to the workers. She is satisfied at the opportunity to give employment to many and says that her workers lead a contented family life. The State Governemnt bestowed on her the best women entrepreneur award in 1987 and the best small-scale industrialist award in 1999. She is the District President of Small Scale Industries, Kottayam and the Vice President of Women Industrialists’ Association. Susy, who gets up everyday at 4.30 in the morning, has been able to do justice to her roles of mother, grandmother, industrialist and social worker thanks to her time management skills. Her son Marcos Isaac, an MBA holder, helps her in running the business, while daughter Christina is in London. About her husband George Isaac, she says: “I believe that behind every successful woman there is a man. In my case it certainly is true.”
