SAIDALAVI: RUNNING A 300-EMPLOYEE FURNITURE UNIT | |||||||
|
Combining the traditional style of Kerala with the modern trends of design, Saidalavi’s Tip Top Furniture Mart, Kottakkal, and their wooden furniture are becoming popular even outside India. Like many achievers, he too started the venture on a low key but built up the reputation based on honesty of approach and quality of products. After the death of his father, Saidalavi dropped studies and learned the trade from the shop of his elder brother. On learning to make the basket chair, he started producing and selling it on instalment basis. As the venture became successful, he invested Rs.15000 and started a small furniture shop, which has now grown into the 300-employee concern. The furniture is made using good quality teak, mahagoni and rosewood. Care is taken to suit the budget and tastes of different customers. It is these cares that have made Tip Top an acceptable brand even outside India. It is a sign of their acceptance that the order for a ceremonial chair for Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi too came to Tip Top. Without making any compromise with the trust reposed by the customers, Saidalavi is steering the business to new heights. Courtesy: Vanitha, October 1-14, 2003 Contributed by: Administrator |
