M.P.Sadasivan’s translation of over 60 books and 16000 printed pages has reached the Limca Book of Records and is on its way to the Guinness Book of World Records. He is also the only person to have translated books by 3 Indian Presidents, The Memoirs of Giani Zail Singh, K.R.Narayanan’s Images and Insights and A.P.J.Abdul Kalam’s Ignited Minds.
Sadasivan, who retired as senior audit officer at the AG’s office, fell in love with books while in school. This love continued into adulthood and most of his books were written while on tour as part of work.
His translation of T.N.Seshan’s The Degeneration of India holds the record of having outsold the original English version. While the English edition could sell only 3000 copies, 30000 copies of the translation were sold in 2 years.
His translations include classics like Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe, Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D.H.Lawrance, Dracula by Bram Stoker, Treasure Island by R.L.Stevenson as well as modern ones like India from Midnight to Millennium by Shashi Tharoor and House of Blue Mangoes by David Davidar. The translation of Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book won him the State Institute for Children’s Literature award.
He is a much sought after person during Independence Days and Repulic Days to translate President’s speeches. His translation of K.R.Narayanan’s Images and Insights was done in a record time of 6 days.
Currently editor of Yuktirekha, a magazine of Yuktivadi Sanghom, Sadasivan has also turned to writing original books.
