MALAYALAM WORD PROCESSING SOFTWARE DEVELOPED BY COLLEGE STUDENT | ||||||
|
He is a student of B.C.A at Al Farook Education Centre who has learned Malayalam only up to the 3rd standard. Yet Sujith Sreedhar of Balussery, Kozhikode, has designed a Malayalam word-processing software, an email client and a Malayalam font. With these tools one can read email in Malayalam even in a computer that has no Malayalam font. The essence of his work is the conversion of the message in Malayalam that one types in the software, into a jpeg file. For this purpose he has developed ‘Spark Editor Ex’. Any matter typed into ‘Spark Editor Ex’ can be converted into jpeg files at the click of a mouse. He has designed a Malayalam font ‘Arathy’ that can be used in Spark. The user-friendly software has option to display keyboard layout on the screen. The user can choose between ‘inscript’ keyboard layout and ‘Remington’ layout. He is now engaged in enhancing the software to suit the needs of document writers. Vatakara Block Panchayat, Malayalam Department of U.C.College, Aluva and GTN Textiles, Ernakulam are some of the major users of his software. After completing his education upto 3rd standard in Kerala, Sujith did further schooling at the Asian School, Bahrain. And so his knowledge of Malayalam is sketchy, even now.
