For the children challenged by physical disabilities due to brain-related illness, Adarsh, a rehabilitation centre at Thrippunithura is a blessing.  Here in the midst of similar boys and girls they use their available faculties to come to terms with life.

Started in 1997 by parents of few affected children and other service-minded persons, Adarsh is a public trust offering a gleam of hope to these children. The 40 students of the age group 6 months to 12 years here undergo physical therapy, occupation therapy and special education.

If 12-year-old Anchal with severe disabilities has learned to browse the Net, Appu has gone far ahead in general knowledge.  Similarly other children too exhibit liking in some field or the other.

The Centre gets aid from Chennai-based Spastic Society of India.  However that is not sufficient to meet the expenses.  The Centre finds it difficult to admit more students in the small rented building where Adarsh is now put up.

K.Neelakantan, Director, P.R.Mahadevan, Secretary and Ramakrishnan, Technical Director, are the office bearers of Adarsh.
