The software programme developed by PrivacyBank.com, the company started by Ramesh Haridas, was acquired by Infospace for US$ 30 million  (140 crore rupees). 26-year-old Ramesh later became the youngest Vice President of the $500 crore Infospace before branching out to become an entrepreneur on his own in San Francisco.

Ramesh, who did his BS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, developed the programme to ease the tedium of customers in e-commerce. With this ‘Autofill’ programme, the customers could fill up their personal details with a single click of the mouse instead of entering them every time they sought a service on the Net.

Once he had the idea of the programme, he assembled the team required for its development and the capital for the venture.  The strenuous work put in by them had resulted in the software.

Ramesh who was born at Kampiyam Vilappil, Cherukunnu, Kannur, did his schooling at the Kendriya Vidyalayas of Bangalore, Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram thanks to the frequent transfers of his father, Wing Commandor (Retd.), P.S.Haridas.  Even as a student of computer science, he had been associated with the famous National Center for Super Computing Application (NCSA) and Microsoft.

He sponsored an  All India Business Plan competition in association with the Rotary Club of Calicut Mid-Town , IIM Kozhikode and REC Calicut.

The secret of my success is the ability to develop innate talent.  Hard work and perseverance contributed to that effort, he says.
