MADHU NAIR: MALAYALI COACH OF KUWAIT’S ROLLER SKATING TEAM |

1st Malayali to become the coach of another country is Madhu Nair, who is the national coach of Kuwait in roller skating. Madhu, who was the national coach of India from 1989 to 1991 quit the job after and migrated to Kuwait after some bitter experiences here. In Kuwait he was initially the coach of a club before being elevated to the position of natioal coach. The Kuwait team has recently won the bronze medal at the Oceana roller hockey championship held in Australia. His club, who are the champions in Kuwait for the past 4 years, won 8 medals in the international speed skating meet held in Egypt. He was the champion in the 500 m sprint at the national level in 1983 and had won the ‘Speed King’ award. Madhu, who belongs to Thiruvananthapurm lives in Kuwait with his wife Annie and children Uttam and Chris.
