INVENTION TO DRAIN WATER FROM RICE COOKED IN A PRESSURE COOKER

Sajikumar of Uzhamalakkal, Chakrapanipuram, Nedumangad, Thiruvananthapuram

Inventor of small appliances, Sajikumar of Uzhamalakkal, Chakrapanipuram, Nedumangad, Thiruvananthapuram has come up with a device to drain water from rice cooked in pressure cooker.

Usually, water from gruel is drained after transferring the contents to another vessel.  Or the rice is boiled till complete water is turned into steam.  In such methods there is the drawback that water is not available for other uses and the rice so obtained may be sticky.

If the pressure cooker is kept in the equipment conceived by Sajikumar, all the water will be drained off within minutes.  And there will not be any stickiness in the rice.

His device basically consists pf a stable framework in which the pressure cooker can be connected by bolts.  This framework can be tilted much like a tabletop grinder.  Pressure cooker of any size can be fixed to the device.

The device costs a nominal Rs.150 for construction.  However it can be commercially produced for less than Rs.100, claims Sajikumar.

Earlier he had made interesting inventions like production of electricity using weight of water, simple sand-sieving machine etc.

27 year old Sajikumar has studied only up to Pre-Degree level.
