For 8 years she practiced in the world of Bharatanatyam, classical music and organ, but finally ended up by contributing her talent in the power lifting field.  Blessy Job of Cherpu, Thrissur, the national champion in the event for the past 3 years, has been winning medals for India at international events.

Her medals include a gold and 3 silver medals in Asian Meet at Uzbekistan in 204 as well as 7th position in the World Meet at Paris this year.

For a girl who was a member of the school team that won a prize in group dance in the State Schools Youth Festival, her graduate studies at Christ College, Iringalakkuda had turned out to be a real pathfinder.

A not-so-bright student of academics, Blessy joined B.Sc. Physical Education course at Christ College thinking of its job prospects.  Although she tried to specialize in judo initially, a chance participation in the weight lifting training camp of coach Anil Das turned out to be her turning point.

The same year she won 3rd position at the State Level meet.  This was followed by 3 years as champion at Inter-University level.  Switching from weight lifting to power lifting, she became the national champion in the 75 kg category, a position she is holding for the past 3 years.  After post graduating in M.P.Ed from Bhopal University she did a short stint as coach before joining as a clerk in Railways.

With better practice and right encouragement, she hopes to do a better performance for the country.
