One can go by bus from Vatakara to Thanneerpandal.  Beyond that one has to depend on jeeps and autorickshaws to reach the remote place where Fabina Gardens, the flora creation of Ramachandran and Indira, exists.  And yet the Garden and its nursery have been attracting many enthusiastic connoisseurs since long.

In the beginning of 1980s, when it was unheard of even to buy coconuts seedlings, Fabina Gardens used to sell saplings not because they wanted to make money out of it.  Rather it was because they understood that acquaintances who used to collect free saplings from them were very careless with their upkeep and used to come again and again for the same sapling.  That was how their nursery began.

Earlier, Ramachandran, a Government official, was attracted to gardening seeing the hobby of his father.  And seeing the work of Ramachandran, his wife Indira also soon developed the green thumb.  What was 6 or 7 years ago just a coconut farm is today filled with different varieties of plants and trees.  There are swings on many trees and few stumps have been given artistic shapes.

They were the first in Kerala to try the tissue culture bananas.  As the cultivation was successful, they were besieged with orders from all over Kerala.

Their next experiment was with grass.  When grass planted in the nursery turned out to be good landscape, many orders came their way to do such landscaping at other places also.

Fabina Gardens provide all facilities for outdoor photography and videography.  Many studios from around Vatakara come here with newly weds for photo sessions and video work.
