Spending 2 nights and 2 days doing nothing except playing tabala, may not be everyone’s cup of joy.  But to Sudheer Kadalundi, who completed a continuous tabla playing session of 56 hours, the event was about grit and gratitude to the numerous supporters of his Guinness Book entry event.

He had intended to better the record of Prasad Chaudhury of Maharastra, who had played the instrument continuously for 46 hours.  Although 50 hours was the targeted time, the enthusiasm of everyone carried the event to 56 hours.

He received support from many musicians in the form of performances on his stage at Faroke.  “This is a victory for his friends and well-wishers also,” said his wife Geetha, a teacher at the Kovilakam Higher Secondary School, Parappanangadi.  His son Rohit also could not contain his joy.  Sudheer’s parents, his guru Ayyappan Asan and the family were also prayerfully keeping vigil for the rare moment.
