Young Sarika’s project to prove the milk-enhancing property of ‘satavari’ root has been selected as an entry at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair to be held in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.  Sarika, a Plus 2 student at the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pangode, Thiruvananthapuram had conducted experiments at the Livestock Development Institute at Kudappanakkunnu to prove the medicinal value of 'satavari' that is extolled in the Ayurvedic texts.

Earlier she had gain attention for her effort to prove the detrimental effects of artificial ‘colas’. 

Students are selected to the International Fair, which is to be held during May 8-14, 2005, based on keen screening contests.  In the CBSE Inter-Science Exhibition, her project was adjudged in the top 20, ahead of 190 other entries.  In the Zonal meet held in Ghaziabad also, her project was adjudged a winner.  And in the national level contest at Chennai, 8 individual projects and 4 team projects were selected for the international contest.  Sarika’s project was one of the 8.

She is now getting ready to present her project at the international competition.
