When the solution to a problem is simple and indigenous, it takes more effort to convince people about its efficiency.

from Kasargod has been propagating rain water conservation efforts which any individual could carry out without the assistance of Government. He has been emphasising on digging rain ditches in the land to recharge rainwater and thus the water table in the adjacent ponds and wells.

Pedre even went to the extend of going to the houses of farmers to convince them about this simple water conservation technique. He even proved that ant hills are structures which too can help in conservation of rainwater.

Sree Pedre is a native of Vaninagar in Enmakage Panchayat. The crowning glory of his efforts came when a teacher family in Manjeswaram, suffering from shortage of water for 33 years, adopted his technique of rainwater harvesting and reaped its benefit in the next year itself.
