After completing his studies in both ayurveda and allopathy from the College of Integrated Medicine, Chennai, Dr.V.P.Siddhan just juggled with the idea of making a soap using ayruvedic ingredients.  Nothing serious, it was done more out of fun.

But as the demand for the soap increased from among his medical friends, who used to prescribe it to patients of skin diseases, he thought of marketing the product.  ‘Medimix’ ayurvedic soap was thus born in 1969.  Today the same product rolls out of his company at the rate of 1.5 lakh soaps per day.  And Siddhan, who was born into an ayurvedic family of Thriprayar, Thrissur, is now a noted doctor and industrialist.

During all these years, he has not changed the ingredients or mix of his herbal soap.  Besides the soap, cough syrup and other products of his Rs.200-crore annual turnover Cholayil Pharmaceuticals have gained market acceptance.

Dr.Siddhan who worked almost 25 years in Railway Medical Service, runs a polyclinic in Chennai.  As part of diversification, his company has acquired the Indian rights of the talcum powder, 'Cuticura'.

His family consists of wife Soubhagya and children Pradeep and Priya.  His son Pradeep and son-in-law Anoop help him now in running the business.
