The husband and wife duo of Baburam and Beena, who went to Delhi 30 years ago to give shape to stalls at the International Trade Fair, have over the years become specialists in Pavilion Designing, with offices in major cities of India and a few locations abroad.

Engineer Baburam, son of artist Raman, won the gold medal in that 1st pavilion designing work at the Trade Fair.  Since then they did not have to look for assignments.  Their small concern, which started in a rented building, later grew into a 3-storied building, as orders increased.  As more assignments came their way, they built an office complex at a 1½ acre plot at Noida.

“I came to the field of pavilion designing to help my husband, as his workload increased”, says Beena.  “Later, I could contribute suggestions and now I can design pavilions on my own.”

Although busy with her husband in the creative field, she is not ready to sacrifice the duties at home.  “My mother-in-law used to say that family should come first.  Perhaps because of attention to that advice, everything has turned out for the better.”

Beena, who has a helping hand for women in need, is a benefactor of many voluntary organizations in Delhi.  In many schools, she has arranged scholarships.  One could count on her for help, be it for poor patients or for wedding needs.

“Money is not permanent.  It is said that one should help others when one has the means.  I too am happy to do that,” she says.

Her daughter Uma is married, while son Arun is a student of engineering in UK.
