Way back in 1984, a resident of the backwaters at Muhamma, K.K.Purushothaman had a dream: to build a boat that would travel at the speed of 30-40 km per hour.  And he even made a model of the dream vessel in the same year itself.  Even today he is waiting for a sponsor who could invest Rs.8 lakhs to build the vessel.

His model had an aerodynamic body and cost Rs.15000.  However, as the carpenter was not able to fully translate his dream into wood, the vessel did not manage the anticipated speed.

He presented the model at the Science Congress held in Kochi in 1994 and later at the 1995 Science Congress held at Kozhikkode.

According to him, the boat would suck a jet of water from the front and propel it to the back to give momentum to the vessel.  And the engine would be situated under the seating area.

He hopes that such speedier vessels would invigorate the life of backwater areas.
