Dr.S.K.Satheesh, Assistant Professor, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore has won the international award for young scientists instituted by the World Meteorology Organisation.

Dr.Satheesh, who belongs to Perunkatavila in Thiruvananthapuram, was selected for the award from among scientists from 120 countries.

He obtained M.Sc in Physics from Kerala University and did post doctoral research at the California University.  Among many awards that have come his way are the Indian National Science Academy award and the young scientist award of Americal Geophysical Union.  He has published about 40 research papers in leading scientific journals like ‘Nature’.

His parents are Sreedharan Nair and Krishna Kumari Amma.
