Well-known chronicler, Kizhakkemadam Govindan Nair has a rich collection of wedding cards of VIPs, of which a few are a century old.  Cards of many sizes dating back all the way to 1911 and earlier, adorn his collection.

Showing a simple card he said that wedding cards were a rarity then and only the privileged could print them in England.  For example, the wedding card of Dr. Punnen Lukose, the 1st surgeon of Kerala was hardly 2 inches by 1 inch.

Another interesting card in his collection is that of Sahitya Panchananan P.K.Narayana Pillai, the noted critic with sharp criticism.  But a grave error in his wedding card put him to shame.  Writers who were subjected to his criticism enjoyed it.  “Instead of ‘griham (home, venue of the wedding) it was printed as ‘graham’ (planet) in the 1911 card.
