She surmounts the fate of 24 years of immobile existence in bed with an artistic expression using wood, plastic and cloth.

Geethakumari, Sree Soudham, Vani Vilakam, Karippur, Malayinkizhu, Thiruvananthapuram was a normal girl till the 8th standard when a chance flu resulted in the incapacitation of her body.  After umpteen visits to the hospitals, the net result was a totally bed-ridden existence, which she is continuing even today.  Even while struggling with her illness, she was attempting to bring meaning to her life with paintings done on paper.

The art of handicraft making using plastic, wood etc. which she learned from her sister 2 years ago, prompted her to think of generating at least a small income for the family.  And so she makes flower vases and flowers, bunch of coconut flowers, birds and other items.  She polishes wood slowly and with effort for etching on them pictures and converting them to vases.  All the jobs she does lying on the bed.

Due to the precarious financial position at home, she is unable to buy even the raw materials for her work.  Another handicap is the long time she needs to complete an item.  A member of the Kudumbasree unit, she had exhibited her works at the Village Fair conducted at Malayinkeezhu.  These works were well received by the public and that is making her think of marketing her works through Khadi Board.
