Kunhiraman and his eight coworkers do not just construct buildings.  Simultaneously they do rehearsal for their next drama to be staged.  For he and his friends are part of a drama troupe that doubles as masons and labourers during day time.

32-year-old Kunhiraman, Kannankai, Cheruvathoor, Kasaragod has so far appeared in 34 amateur dramas and has been adjudged best actor 24 times.

Each construction activity is a rehearsal camp for him.  Walls go up as prop for the drama, it would appear.  Anyone caring to go near the construction site can hear the dialogues of actors.  If the hero says something from the basement, the villain may respond to it from the roof slab.  They do the rehearsal during the afternoon siesta when most of the workers tend to take a short nap.

The next rehearsal would be during night in front of the house of some member of the troupe.  A small gathering would watch the actors without make up.  When the drama is staged, the people of Kannankai would definitely be present to watch their Kunhiraman on the stage.

If one thought that his talent was limited to drama, here is the correction.  The latest trend of cinematic dance and even Kathakali are known to him.  But Kunhiraman’s love is for the stage.

After all, isn’t drama a reflection of life itself.  And the irony is that the actor who had converted many houses under construction into impromptu stages doesn’tm have a proper house to keep the innumerable trophies he has won.
