Even as he struggles to find means to meet the expenses towards the treatment of his wife, N.Lakshmanan didn’t have to think twice about returning a bearer cheque for Rs.10000 he found on the way.

KSRTC conductor at Kayamkulam depot, Lakshmanan, Alumvila Padiyattathil, Karimlaikal, Komalloor, Alappuzha had come to Thiruvananthapuram in connection with the treatment of his wife Prasanna Kumari whose both kidneys are impaired.  Near Pattam he came across the easily encashable cheque for Rs.10000.  Although the monthly expense for the treatment of his wife comes to Rs.25000, Lakshmanan returned the cheque to the bank without a second thought.

Since the cheque bore the mark of SBT, Pangode (Kallara) branch, he wanted to return it there itself.  However, lack of money to journey up to the place made him hand over the cheque to the authorities at the Santhi Nagar branch of SBT.

Prasanna Kumari’s surgery is to be performed at Appollo Hospital, Madurai.  The expenses for this would come to Rs.3 lakhs excluding daily medicines.
