SAJIMON: INVENTOR OF DOMESTIC COCONUT OIL EXTRACTOR |
|||||
|
It
was the
worry and realization that 90% of the branded coconut oils available in
the
market were contaminated, that led Sajimon
of Kattachira, Ettumanoor, Kottayam
to invent a coconut oil extracting machine suitable for households. And he had the acceptance and support from
his wife Betty in this venture. The machine
developed by Sajimon is capable of extracting oil from even
half-a-dry-coconut
or copra. The machine involves no power
or motor and has least maintenance.
Operation of the machine is simple to and fro motion like
the move to
lift motor vehicles using small hydraulic jacks. The copra
has to be ground into a powder in a mixie before it can be fed into the
coconut
oil extractor. Sajimon has received
patent for his invention and hopes to develop it commercially.
