ARSHAD: SCHOOL BOY BUILDS BIKE FROM SCRAP | |||||
|
Making use
of the lockdown period, Arshad, son of Hashim and Hasina and a student of 9th
standard at SDPY School, Palluruthy, Kochi, has built a bike using scrap from
his father’s workshop. This bike has a
seating capacity of just one but can travel up to 50km on a full tank of 1
litre. He felt the
idea of creating a bike when he saw the pipe and bike engine in his father’s workshop. Although his father scolded him initially,
half way through the venture, the father became a converted supporter and
arranged for a welding machine from his friend. It took
Arshad about one and a half months of effort and Rs.10000 to make his dream a
reality. The bike has disc brakes, LED
lights and bicycle handles. The pipe
frame doubles as fuel tank. He next
dreams of making a trolly. His father, now
a proud believer in his son’s ability, is ready to support him as much as
possible.
